We whipped the fresh eggs and something emerged... to complain? Thinking about how often we eat without fully appreciating the energy behind food production. Time and again we hear of food miles. Is this the new fad now? How many people do you know willing and able to clock up some miles of their own with a wheelbarrow- making food for themselves?
Returning to Hancock library after many years away, I find the stacks just as they were. Cranking the handle feels like parting the sea- and inside a rich resource of pollen books for me to explore. I am delighted to be accepted as an Honorary Guest at the ANU Department of Archaeology and Natural History in order to pursue my interest. Who knows where the adventure will lead?
With spiced fruit mince made with figs and apricot jam from the garden. Dig the whole, plant the trees, water, weed and harvest, preserve, cook and then eat. By my reckoning, 5 years to make... 5 seconds to swallow!
